2014-11-23linux/kernel.h: sync min, max, min3, max3 macros with LinuxMasahiro Yamada
U-Boot has never cared about the type when we get max/min of two values, but Linux Kernel does. This commit gets min, max, min3, max3 macros synced with the kernel introducing type checks. Many of references of those macros must be fixed to suppress warnings. We have two options: - Use min, max, min3, max3 only when the arguments have the same type (or add casts to the arguments) - Use min_t/max_t instead with the appropriate type for the first argument Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com> Acked-by: Pavel Machek <pavel@denx.de> Acked-by: Lukasz Majewski <l.majewski@samsung.com> Tested-by: Lukasz Majewski <l.majewski@samsung.com> [trini: Fixup arch/blackfin/lib/string.c] Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@ti.com>
2014-11-21fdt: Allow ft_board_setup() to report failureSimon Glass
This function can fail if the device tree runs out of space. Rather than silently booting with an incomplete device tree, allow the failure to be detected. Unfortunately this involves changing a lot of places in the code. I have not changed behvaiour to return an error where one is not currently returned, to avoid unexpected breakage. Eventually it would be nice to allow boards to register functions to be called to update the device tree. This would avoid all the many functions to do this. However it's not clear yet if this should be done using driver model or with a linker list. This work is left for later. 2014-11-20include: move various macros to include/linux/kernel.hMasahiro Yamada
U-Boot has imported various utility macros from Linux scattering them to various places without consistency. In include/common.h are min, max, min3, max3, ARRAY_SIZE, ALIGN, container_of, DIV_ROUND_UP, etc. In include/linux/compat.h are min_t, max_t, round_up, round_down, etc. We also have duplicated defines of min_t in some *.c files. Moreover, we are suffering from too cluttered include/common.h. This commit moves various macros that originate in include/linux/kernel.h of Linux to their original position. Note: This commit simply moves the macros; the macros roundup, min, max, min2, max3, ARRAY_SIZE are different from those of Linux at this point. 2014-11-05ppc: Fix ppc4xx CONFIG_SYS_GENERIC_BOARDDirk Eibach
I realized that with v2014.10 u-boot is not starting up on ppc4xx boards with CONFIG_SYS_GENERIC_BOARD set. I bisected it down to this: d54d7eb support blackfin board initialization in generic board_f With d29437a ppc: Make ppc4xx ready for CONFIG_SYS_GENERIC_BOARD I set gd to a defined value for ppc4xx in cpu_init_f(). Now the types of CONFIG_SYS_{ARCH, CPU, SOC, VENDOR, BOARD, CONFIG_NAME} are specified in arch/Kconfig. We can delete the ones in arch and board Kconfig files. This commit can be easily reproduced by the following command: find . -name Kconfig -a ! -path ./arch/Kconfig | xargs sed -i -e ' /config[[:space:]]SYS_\(ARCH\|CPU\|SOC\|\VENDOR\|BOARD\|CONFIG_NAME\)/ { N s/\n[[:space:]]*string// } ' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>

2014-07-30kconfig: switch to KconfigMasahiro Yamada
This commit enables Kconfig. Going forward, we use Kconfig for the board configuration. mkconfig will never be used. Nor will include/config.mk be generated. Kconfig must be adjusted for U-Boot because our situation is a little more complicated than Linux Kernel. We have to generate multiple boot images (Normal, SPL, TPL) from one source tree. Each image needs its own configuration input. Usage: Run "make <board>_defconfig" to do the board configuration. It will create the .config file and additionally spl/.config, tpl/.config if SPL, TPL is enabled, respectively. You can use "make config", "make menuconfig" etc. to create a new .config or modify the existing one. Use "make spl/config", "make spl/menuconfig" etc. for spl/.config and do likewise for tpl/.config file. The generic syntax of configuration targets for SPL, TPL is: <target_image>/<config_command> Here, <target_image> is either 'spl' or 'tpl' <config_command> is 'config', 'menuconfig', 'xconfig', etc. When the configuration is done, run "make". (Or "make <board>_defconfig all" will do the configuration and build in one time.) For futher information of how Kconfig works in U-Boot, please read the comment block of scripts/multiconfig.py. By the way, there is another item worth remarking here: coexistence of Kconfig and board herder files. Prior to Kconfig, we used C headers to define a set of configs. We expect a very long term to migrate from C headers to Kconfig. Two different infractructure must coexist in the interim. In our former configuration scheme, include/autoconf.mk was generated for use in makefiles. It is still generated under include/, spl/include/, tpl/include/ directory for the Normal, SPL, TPL image, respectively. 2014-07-30kconfig: add board Kconfig and defconfig filesMasahiro Yamada
This commit adds: - arch/${ARCH}/Kconfig provide a menu to select target boards - board/${VENDOR}/${BOARD}/Kconfig or board/${BOARD}/Kconfig set CONFIG macros to the appropriate values for each board - configs/${TARGET_BOARD}_defconfig default setting of each board (This commit was automatically generated by a conversion script based on boards.cfg) In Linux Kernel, defconfig files are located under arch/${ARCH}/configs/ directory. It works in Linux Kernel since ARCH is always given from the command line for cross compile. But in U-Boot, ARCH is not given from the command line. Which means we cannot know ARCH until the board configuration is done. That is why all the "*_defconfig" files should be gathered into a single directory ./configs/. Many USB host controller drivers contain almost identical copies of the same virtual root hub descriptors. Put these into a common file to avoid duplication. Note that there were some very minor differences between the descriptors in the various files, such as: - USB 1.0 vs. USB 1.1 - Manufacturer/Device ID - Max packet size - String content I assume these aren't relevant. 2012-11-20usb: use linux/usb/ch9.h instead of usbdescriptors.hIlya Yanok
Linux usb/ch9.h seems to have all the same information (and more) as usbdescriptors.h so use the former instead of the later one. As a consequense of this change USB_SPEED_* values don't correspond directly to EHCI speed encoding anymore, I've added necessary recoding in EHCI driver. Also there is no point to put speed into pipe anymore so it's removed and a bunch of host drivers fixed to look at usb_device->speed instead. Old usbdescriptors.h included is not removed as it seems to be used by old USB device code. This makes usb.h and usbdevice.h incompatible. Fortunately the only place that tries to include both are the old MUSB code and it needs usb.h only for USB_DMA_MINALIGN used in aligned attribute on musb_regs structure but this attribute seems to be unneeded (old MUSB code doesn't support any DMA at all).
