2010-01-23ppc4xx: Kilauea: Add CPLD version detection and EBC reconfigurationStefan Roese
A newer CPLD version on the 405EX evaluation board requires a different EBC controller setup for the CPLD register access. This patch adds a CPLD version detection for Kilauea and code to reconfigure the EBC controller (chip select 2) for the old CPLD if no new version is found. Additionally the CPLD version is printed upon bootup: Board: Kilauea - AMCC PPC405EX Evaluation Board (CPLD rev. 0) Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de> Acked-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Cc: Zhang Bao Quan <bqzhang@udtech.com.cn>
2009-12-07POST: Remove duplicated post_hotkey_pressed() functionsStefan Roese
This patch introduces a weak default function for post_hotkey_pressed(), returning 0, for boards without hotkey support. The long-running tests won't be started on those boards. This default function was implemented in many board directories. By implementing this weak default we can remove all those duplicate versions. Boards with hotkey support, can override this weak default function by defining one in their board specific code. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2009-11-19ppc4xx: Consolidate pci_pre_init() functionStefan Roese
This patch removes the duplicted implementations of the pci_pre_init() function by introducing a weak default function for it. This weak default has a different implementation for some PPC variants. It can be overridden by a board specific version. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2009-11-09ppc4xx: Fix NAND booting targets after 4xx linker script consolidationStefan Roese
Somehow I missed the NAND booting targets in the 4xx linker script consolidation patchset. This patch fixes this issue. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2009-11-09ppc4xx: Consolidate 4xx PCIe board specific configurationStefan Roese
This patch consolidates the PPC4xx board specific PCIe configuration code. This way the duplicated code is removed. Boards can implement a special, non standard behaviour (e.g. number of PCIe slots, etc) by overriding the weak default functions. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2009-11-02ppc4xx: Remove board specific linker scripts from most PPC4xx boardsStefan Roese
All these linker scripts can be removed since the new common ppc4xx linker script should be able to handle all of those boards. Please test and report problems. Thanks. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>

2009-10-07ppc4xx: Fix msg "initialization as root-complex failed" upon PCIe scanStefan Roese
This message is printed upon PCIe bus scan, not only upon error, but also if no PCIe device is detected at all. Since this is not an error, let's remove this message in this case. We already have the message "link is not up." if there is no PCIe device present. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de> Acked-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2009-10-03ppc: Enable full relocation to RAMPeter Tyser
The following changes allow U-Boot to fully relocate from flash to RAM: - Remove linker scripts' .fixup sections from the .text section - Add -mrelocatable to PLATFORM_RELFLAGS for all boards - Define CONFIG_RELOC_FIXUP_WORKS for all boards Previously, U-Boot would partially relocate, but statically initialized pointers needed to be manually relocated. 2009-09-28ppc4xx: Convert PPC4xx UIC defines from lower case to upper caseStefan Roese
The latest PPC4xx register cleanup patch missed the UIC defines. This patch now changes lower case UIC defines to upper case. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2009-07-28ppc4xx: Add some NAND-booting bootstrap entries to Kilauea chip_config cmdStefan Roese
This patch adds some I2C bootstrap setting for NAND booting to the Kilauea chip_config command ("533-nand" and "600-nand"). Additionally some incorrectly indented lines are fixed. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2009-07-24ppc4xx: Add chip_config command to AMCC Kilauea eval boardStefan Roese
This patch removes the "alterpll" command and replaces it with the now ppc4xx standard "chip_config" command to configure the I2C bootstrap EEPROM. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2009-06-12General help message cleanupWolfgang Denk
Many of the help messages were not really helpful; for example, many commands that take no arguments would not print a correct synopsis line, but "No additional help available." which is not exactly wrong, but not helpful either. Commit ``Make "usage" messages more helpful.'' changed this partially. But it also became clear that lots of "Usage" and "Help" messages (fields "usage" and "help" in struct cmd_tbl_s respective) were actually redundant. This patch cleans this up - for example: Before: => help dtt dtt - Digital Thermometer and Thermostat Usage: dtt - Read temperature from digital thermometer and thermostat. After: => help dtt dtt - Read temperature from Digital Thermometer and Thermostat Usage: dtt Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2009-03-20Fix all linker script to handle all rodata sectionsTrent Piepho
A recent gcc added a new unaligned rodata section called '.rodata.str1.1', which needs to be added the the linker script. Instead of just adding this one section, we use a wildcard ".rodata*" to get all rodata linker section gcc has now and might add in the future. However, '*(.rodata*)' by itself will result in sub-optimal section ordering. The sections will be sorted by object file, which causes extra padding between the unaligned rodata.str.1.1 of one object file and the aligned rodata of the next object file. This is easy to fix by using the SORT_BY_ALIGNMENT command. This patch has not be tested one most of the boards modified. Some boards have a linker script that looks something like this: *(.text) . = ALIGN(16); *(.rodata) *(.rodata.str1.4) *(.eh_frame) I change this to: *(.text) . = ALIGN(16); *(.eh_frame) *(SORT_BY_ALIGNMENT(SORT_BY_NAME(.rodata*))) This means the start of rodata will no longer be 16 bytes aligned. However, the boundary between text and rodata/eh_frame is still aligned to 16 bytes, which is what I think the real purpose of the ALIGN call is. Signed-off-by: Trent Piepho <xyzzy@speakeasy.org>
2009-01-28Command usage cleanupPeter Tyser

2008-07-11ppc4xx: Remove redundant ft_board_setup() functions from some 4xx boardsStefan Roese
This patch removes some ft_board_setup() functions from some 4xx boards. This can be done since we now have a default weak implementation for this in cpu/ppc4xx/fdt.c. Only board in need for a different/custom implementation like canyonlands need their own version. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>

2008-06-03ppc4xx: Change Kilauea to use the common DDR2 init functionStefan Roese
This patch changes the kilauea and kilauea_nand (for NAND booting) board port to not use a board specific DDR2 init routine anymore. Now the common code from cpu/ppc4xx is used. Thanks to Grant Erickson for all his basic work on this 405EX early bootup. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2008-06-03ppc4xx: Enable Primordial Stack for 40x and Unify ECC HandlingGrant Erickson
This patch (Part 2 of 2): * Rolls up a suite of changes to enable correct primordial stack and global data handling when the data cache is used for such a purpose for PPC40x-variants (i.e. CFG_INIT_DCACHE_CS). * Related to the first, unifies DDR2 SDRAM and ECC initialization by eliminating redundant ECC initialization implementations and moving redundant SDRAM initialization out of board code into shared 4xx code. * Enables MCSR visibility on the 405EX(r). * Enables the use of the data cache for initial RAM on both AMCC's Kilauea and Makalu and removes a redundant CFG_POST_MEMORY flag from each board's CONFIG_POST value. - Removed, per Stefan Roese's request, defunct memory.c file for Makalu and rolled sdram_init from it into makalu.c. With respect to the 4xx DDR initialization and ECC unification, there is certainly more work that can and should be done (file renaming, etc.). However, that can be handled at a later date on a second or third pass. As it stands, this patch moves things forward in an incremental yet positive way for those platforms that utilize this code and the features associated with it. 2008-05-21Big white-space cleanup.Wolfgang Denk
This commit gets rid of a huge amount of silly white-space issues. Especially, all sequences of SPACEs followed by TAB characters get removed (unless they appear in print statements). Also remove all embedded "vim:" and "vi:" statements which hide indentation problems. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>

2008-01-14ppc4xx: Update Kilauea CPLD configuration with USB PHY reset bitStefan Roese
Now that bit 29 is the USB PHY reset bit, update the Kilauea port to remove the USB PHY reset after powerup. The CPLD will keep the USB PHY in reset (active low) until the bit is set to 1 in board_early_init_f(). Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2008-01-12Fix linker scripts: add NOLOAD atribute to .bss/.sbss sectionsWolfgang Denk
With recent toolchain versions, some boards would not build because or errors like this one (here for ocotea board when building with ELDK 4.2 beta): ppc_4xx-ld: section .bootpg [fffff000 -> fffff23b] overlaps section .bss [fffee900 -> fffff8ab] For many boards, the .bss section is big enough that it wraps around at the end of the address space (0xFFFFFFFF), so the problem will not be visible unless you use a 64 bit tool chain for development. On some boards however, changes to the code size (due to different optimizations) we bail out with section overlaps like above. The fix is to add the NOLOAD attribute to the .bss and .sbss sections, telling the linker that .bss does not consume any space in the image. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
2007-12-13ppc4xx: Bring 4xx fdt support up-to-dateStefan Roese
This patch update the 4xx fdt support. It enabled fdt booting on the AMCC Kilauea and Sequoia for now. More can follow later quite easily. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2007-12-08ppc4xx: 405EX: Correctly enable USB pinsStefan Roese
This patch selects the USB data pins in the 405EX GPIO and MFC (multi function control) registers. This is done for the AMCC Kilauea and Makalu eval boards. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2007-11-30ppc4xx: Kilauea: Add PCIe reset assertion upon power-upStefan Roese

2007-10-31ppc4xx: Add initial AMCC Haleakala PPC405EXr eval board supportStefan Roese
The Haleakala is nearly identical with the Kilauea eval board. The only difference is that the 405EXr only supports one EMAC and one PCIe interface. This patch adds support for the Haleakala board by using the identical image for Kilauea and Haleakala. The distinction is done by comparing the PVR. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2007-10-31ppc4xx: Fix size setup in Kilauea DDR2 init routineStefan Roese
The size was initilized wrong. Instead of 256MB, the DDR2 controller was setup to 512MB. Now the correct values is used. This patch also does a little cleanup and adds a comment here. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2007-10-31ppc4xx: Dynamic configuration of 4xx PCIe mode as root or endpoint modeStefan Roese
This patch adds support for dynamic configuration of PCIe ports for the AMCC PPC4xx boards equipped with PCIe interfaces. These are the PPC440SPe boards Yucca & Katmai and the 405EX board Kilauea. This dynamic configuration is done via the "pcie_mode" environement variable. This variable can be set to "EP" or "RP" for endpoint or rootpoint mode. Multiple values can be joined via the ":" delimiter. Here an example: pcie_mode=RP:EP:EP This way, PCIe port 0 will be configured as rootpoint, PCIe port 1 and 2 as endpoint. Per default Yucca will be configured as: pcie_mode=RP:EP:EP Per default Katmai will be configured as: pcie_mode=RP:RP:REP Per default Kilauea will be configured as: pcie_mode=RP:RP Signed-off-by: Tirumala R Marri <tmarri@amcc.com> Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
2007-10-31ppc4xx: Enable device tree support (fdt) on Kilauea per defaultStefan Roese
This patch enables the fdt support on the AMCC Kilauea eval board. Additionally now EBC ranges fdt fixup is included to support NOR FLASH mapping via the Linux physmap_of driver. This Kilauea port now support booting arch/ppc and arch/powerpc Linux kernels. The default environment "net_nfs" is for arch/ppc and "net_nfs_fdt" is for arch/powerpc. In the long run, arch/ppc support will be removed. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
