2015-01-29dm: gpio: Add better functions to request GPIOsSimon Glass
At present U-Boot sort-of supports the standard way of reading GPIOs from device tree nodes, but the support is incomplete, a bit clunky and only works for GPIO bindings where #gpio-cells is 2. Add new functions to request GPIOs, taking full account of the device tree binding. These permit requesting a GPIO with a simple call like: gpio_request_by_name(dev, "cd-gpios", 0, &desc, GPIOD_IS_IN); This will request the GPIO, looking at the device's node which might be this, for example: cd-gpios = <&gpio TEGRA_GPIO(B, 3) GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW>; The GPIO will be set to input mode in this case and polarity will be honoured by the GPIO calls. 2015-01-29dm: gpio: Add a native driver model APISimon Glass
So far driver model's GPIO uclass just implements the existing GPIO API. This has some limitations: - it requires manual device tree munging to support GPIOs in device tree (fdtdec_get_gpio() and friends) - it does not understand polarity - it is somewhat slower since we must scan for the GPIO device each time - Global GPIO numbering can change if other GPIO drivers are probed - it requires extra steps to set the GPIO direction and value The new functions have a dm_ prefix where necessary to avoid name conflicts but we can remove that when it is no-longer needed. The new struct gpio_desc holds all required information about the GPIO. For now this is intended to be stored by the client requesting the GPIO, but in future it might be brought into the uclass in some way. 2015-01-12pci: Make pci apis usable before relocationBin Meng
Introduce a gd->hose to save the pci hose in the early phase so that apis in drivers/pci/pci.c can be used before relocation. Architecture codes need assign a valid gd->hose in the early phase. Some variables are declared as static so change them to be either stack variable or global data member so that they can be used before relocation, except the 'indent' used by CONFIG_PCI_SCAN_SHOW which just affects some print format. 2014-11-21dm: Split the simple malloc() implementation into its own fileSimon Glass
The simple malloc() implementation is used when memory is tight. It provides a simple buffer with an incrementing pointer. At present the implementation is inside dlmalloc. Move it into its own file so that it is easier to find. Rather than using relocation as a signal that the full malloc() is available, add a special GD_FLG_FULL_MALLOC_INIT flag. This signals that the simple malloc() should no longer be used. In some cases, such as SPL, even the code space used by the full malloc() is wasteful. Add a CONFIG_SYS_MALLOC_SIMPLE option to provide only the simple malloc. In this case the full malloc is not available at all. It saves about 1KB of code space and about 0.5KB of data on Thumb 2. 2014-11-21dm: serial: Move current serial port pointer to global_dataSimon Glass
In general we can't store things in the data section until we have inited SDRAM. Some platforms allow this (e.g. those with SPL) but some don't. Move the pointer to global_data so that it will work on all platforms. Without this fix the serial port will not work prior to relocation with driver model on some platforms. 2014-08-31dm: gpio: Enhance gpio command to show only active GPIOsSimon Glass
The GPIO list is very long in many cases and most of them are not used. By default, show only the GPIOs that are in use, and provide a flag to show all of them. This makes the 'gpio status' command much more pleasant. In order to do this, driver model now exposes a method for obtaining the 'function' of a GPIO, which describes whether it is an input or output, for example. For sandbox we have a fallback console which is used very early in U-Boot, before serial drivers are available. Rather than try to guess when to switch to the real console, add a flag so we can be sure. 2014-07-23Add a simple malloc() implementation for pre-relocationSimon Glass
If we are to have driver model before relocation we need to support some way of calling memory allocation routines. The standard malloc() is pretty complicated: 1. It uses some BSS memory for its state, and BSS is not available before relocation 2. It supports algorithms for reducing memory fragmentation and improving performace of free(). Before relocation we could happily just not support free(). 3. It includes about 4KB of code (Thumb 2) and 1KB of data. However since this has been loaded anyway this is not really a problem. The simplest way to support pre-relocation malloc() is to reserve an area of memory and allocate it in increasing blocks as needed. This implementation does this. To enable it, you need to define the size of the malloc() pool as described in the README. It will be located above the pre-relocation stack on supported architectures. Note that this implementation is only useful on machines which have some memory available before dram_init() is called - this includes those that do no DRAM init (like tegra) and those that do it in SPL (quite a few boards). This commit keeps only CONFIG_MPC8260. 2014-03-04dm: Add GPIO support and testsSimon Glass
Add driver model support for GPIOs. Since existing GPIO drivers do not use driver model, this feature must be enabled by CONFIG_DM_GPIO. After all GPO drivers are converted over we can perhaps remove this config. Tests are provided for the sandbox implementation, and are a sufficient sanity check for basic operation. The GPIO uclass understands the concept of named banks of GPIOs, with each GPIO device providing a single bank. Within each bank the GPIOs are numbered using an offset from 0 to n-1. For example a bank named 'b' with 20 offsets will provide GPIOs named b0 to b19. Anonymous GPIO banks are also supported, and are just numbered without any prefix. Each time a GPIO driver is added to the uclass, the GPIOs are renumbered accordinging, so there is always a global GPIO numbering order. As mentioned as follows in include/asm-generic/global_data.h, /* TODO: is this the same as relocaddr, or something else? */ unsigned long dest_addr; /* Post-relocation address of U-Boot */ dest_addr is the same as relocaddr. Likewise, dest_addr_sp is the same as start_addr_sp. It seemed dest_addr/dest_addr_sp was used only as a scratch variable to calculate relocaddr/start_addr_sp, respectively.
