2019-12-04cmd: nand/sf: isolate legacy codeMiquel Raynal
The 'sf' command is not supposed to rely on the MTD stack, but both 'sf' and 'nand' commands use helpers located in mtd_uboot.c. Despite their location, these functions do not depend at all on the MTD stack. This file (drivers/mtd/mtd_uboot.c) is only compiled if CONFIG_MTD is selected, which is inconsistent with the current situation. Solve this by moving these three functions (which are only used by the above two commands) out of mtd_uboot.c and put them in a C file only compiled with cmd/sf.c and cmd/nand.c. 2019-04-12mtd: fix mtd_oobavail() incoherent returned valueMiquel Raynal
mtd_oobavail() returns either mtd->oovabail or mtd->oobsize. Both values are unsigned 32-bit entities, so there is no reason to pretend returning a signed one. Signed-off-by: Miquel Raynal <miquel.raynal@bootlin.com>
2018-12-06mtd: Don't stop MTD partition creation when it fails on one deviceBoris Brezillon
MTD partition creation code is a bit tricky. It tries to figure out when things have changed (either MTD dev list or mtdparts/mtdids vars) and when that happens it first deletes all the partitions that had been previously created and then creates the new ones based on the new mtdparts/mtdids values. But before deleting the old partitions, it ensures that none of the currently registered parts are being used and bails out when that's not the case. So, we end up in a situation where, if at least one MTD dev has one of its partitions used by someone (UBI for instance), the partitions update logic no longer works for other devs. Rework the code to relax the logic and allow updates of MTD parts on devices that are not being used (we still refuse to updates parts on devices who have at least one of their partitions used by someone). 2018-12-06mtd: Delete partitions attached to the device when a device is deletedBoris Brezillon

2018-12-06mtd: Add a function to report when the MTD dev list has been updatedBoris Brezillon
We need to parse mtdparts/mtids again everytime a device has been added/removed from the MTD list, but there's currently no way to know when such an update has been done. Add an ->updated field to the idr struct that we set to true every time a device is added/removed and expose a function returning the value of this field and resetting it to false. 2018-10-02mtd: mtdpart: implement proper partition handlingMiquel Raynal
Instead of collecting partitions in a flat list, create a hierarchy within the mtd_info structure: use a partitions list to keep track of the partitions of an MTD device (which might be itself a partition of another MTD device), a pointer to the parent device (NULL when the MTD device is the root one, not a partition). By also saving directly in mtd_info the offset of the partition, we can get rid of the mtd_part structure. 2018-10-02mtd: uboot: search for an equivalent MTD name with the mtdidsMiquel Raynal
Using an MTD device (resp. partition) name in mtdparts is simple and straightforward. However, for a long time already, another name was given in mtdparts to indicate a device (resp. partition) so the "mtdids" environment variable was created to do the match. Let's create a function that, from an MTD device (resp. partition) name, search for the equivalent name in the "mtdparts" environment variable thanks to the "mtdids" string. 2018-07-24mtd: remove stale comment in mtd_oob_ops structureMiquel Raynal
A comment in the kernel doc of the mtd_oob_ops structure tells that it is not possible to write more than one page with OOB. This was probably true at some time in the past but today it is entirely wrong. As one can see for instance in the nand_do_write_ops() helper available in the NAND core, this implementation called by mtd->_write_oob() simply loops over the pages until everything has been written. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>

2017-10-04printk: collect printk stuff into <linux/printk.h> with loglevel supportMasahiro Yamada
When we import code from Linux, with regular re-sync planned, we want to use printk() and pr_*(). U-Boot does not support them in a clean way. So, people end up with local macros, or compat headers here and there, then we occasionally see build errors of definition conflicts. We have include/linux/compat.h, but putting all sorts of unrelated things into a single header is just a temporal workaround. Hence this patch, to find the best home for all printk variants. If you want to use printk() and friends, please include <linux/printk.h>. This header is self-contained, and pulls in only a few headers. When I was testing this clean-up, I noticed the image size exceeded its platform limit on some boards. This is because all pr_*() that were previously defined as no-op in include/linux/mtd/mtd.h (unless CONFIG_MTD_DEBUG is set), are now enabled. To make such boards happy, this commit also implements CONFIG_LOGLEVEL. The concept is similar to the kernel parameter "loglevel". (Actually, the Kconfig help message was taken from kernel-paremeter.txt of Linux) Messages with a loglevel smaller than console loglevel will be printed. The difference is the loglevel is build-time determined. To save the image size, lower priority pr_*() are compiled out. I set the default of CONFIG_LOGLEVEL to 6, i.e. pr_notice and higher priority messages are compiled in. I adjusted CONFIG_LOGLEVEL to avoid build error for some boards. 2013-11-21mtd: move & update nand_ecclayout structure (plus board changes)Prabhakar Kushwaha
nand_ecclayout is present in mtd.h at Linux. Move this structure to mtd.h to comply with Linux. Also, increase the ecc placement locations to 640 to suport device having writesize/oobsize of 8KB/640B. This means that the maximum oobsize has gone up to 640 bytes and consequently the maximum ecc placement locations have also gone up to 640. Changes from Prabhabkar's version (squashed into one patch to preserve bisectability): - Added _LARGE to MTD_MAX_*_ENTRIES This makes the names match current Linux source, and resolves a conflict between http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/280488/ and http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/284513/ The former was posted first and is closer to matching Linux, but unlike Linux it does not add _LARGE to the names. The second adds _LARGE to one of the names, and depends on it in a subsequent patch (http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/284512/). - Made max oobfree/eccpos configurable, and used this on tricorder, alpr, ASH405, T4160QDS, and T4240QDS (these boards failed to build for me without doing so, due to a size increase). On tricorder SPL, this saves 2576 bytes (and makes the SPL build again) versus the new default of 640 eccpos and 32 oobfree, and saves 336 bytes versus the old default of 128 eccpos and 8 oobfree. This patch takes U-Boot NAND support to the level of Linux 2.6.22.1 and will enable support for very large NAND devices (4KB pages) and ease the compatibility between U-Boot and Linux filesystems. This patch is tested on two custom boards with PPC and ARM processors running YAFFS in U-Boot and Linux using gcc-4.1.2 cross compilers. MAKEALL ppc/arm has some issues: * DOC/OneNand/nand_spl is not building (I have not tried porting these parts, and since I do not have any HW and I am not familiar with this code/HW I think its best left to someone else.)
